David Williams

Senior Executive & Non Executive Director with 30+ years experience in Insurance. Formerly Managing Director of Claims, Underwriting, & Technical Services, AXA Insurance UK

David has over 30 years’ experience in General Insurance, roles including Chief Commercial Underwriter at one of AXA’s largest branches, Reinsurance Manager, Casualty Insurance Manager, Managing Director Claims and Managing Director of Underwriting & Technical Services.

David led AXA’s work on Connected & Autonomous Vehicles, including work with five Government backed Consortia (including Venturer, UK Autodrive and Flourish) and was Chair of the ABI Autonomous Driving Insurance Group and the ABI Motor Committee. He sat on the ABI GIC for several years, he remains Chair of RISCAuthority, and is a Board Member of the Fire Protection Association (FPA).

He speaks regularly at conferences and other events in the UK and Europe on a variety of subjects including most recently Autonomous Vehicles and the future of mobility, recycled parts, improving customer satisfaction, flooding and climate change. David has also appeared on Sky TV, BBC Breakfast TV, BBC and Channel 4 News, as well as Radio 4’s ‘Today’ Programme, being interviewed on topics varying from Compensation Culture to Business Crime. David is very active in campaigning in a number of areas, particularly with regard to problems with claims farming and compensation culture. In 2018 he was recognised as Social Media Influencer of the year, and in 2019 he won both the Insurance Post Claims Achievement Award and was named Insurance Personality of the Year at the British Insurance Awards.

David originally hails from Bristol (explaining his passion for Bristol Rovers!) but now lives in Suffolk with his wife Catherine and two sons Evan (17) & Ryan (15)

• Developing and implementing new administrative systems, such as record management.
• Producing, reviewing and updating HR and Health and Safety policies and ensuring they are observed.
• Management of any maintenance contracts as well as recruitment of contractors for ad hoc repairs.
• Ensure office equipment and services are sufficient for requirements and kept in good working order.
• Maintenance of office equipment service contracts.
• Management of all stationery and supplies.

• Raise Sales Invoices and log purchases on Kashflow. 
• Credit Control.
• Reconciliation of Bank Accounts and Credit Cards.
• Petty cash & General Banking.

I am reliable and adaptable. I have good interpersonal and communication skills and I am VERY organised.

Covid meant we set up our offices at home 

Feeling very grateful that we live in the countryside and have space at home to work effectively, that said it's difficult to beat the buzz of the city and working with a proper team, all together in one place, so often found in Cambridge, Ipswich or London.
